School Days Scrapbook

I put together my School Days Scrapbook using various background papers from numerous paper packs I bought at Michael's, along with a "School Days" pack also bought at Michael's.  I used traditional scrapbooking methods, double and triple mounting some photos.  

The pages are 8 1/2 X 11 and put in sheet protectors in a Pioneer album.

THE SEVENTH DAY

Here is a link to an inspiring DVD series on the SABBATH - the Seventh Day.  I have known the producer, Pat Arrabito for many years.  Her husband Jim had a vision for producing a film that would fully explain the Sabbath, and Pat has continued that work following Jim's tragic death some years ago.  This series is well worth viewing and sharing.  Hal Holbrook narrates this quality documentary series.

FRACTALS - Infinitely repeating pattern: Beauty in GOD's Infinite Universe

I saw an ad in BAR (Biblical Archaeology Review, Jan./Feb. 2009 edition) for a lecture series on DVD titled "Discovering a Mathematical World of Starling Beauty and Insight."

Fractals are beautiful mathematical creations that inspire fascination and wonder.  Here are a few examples of these confounding spirals and shapes that go into infinity.

A Walk in the Woods

The rain has fled and we have had two lovely days of alternating sunshine and clouds.  Craig and I took a walk in the Los Posadas State Forest this afternoon, and ended up going on a 3 hour amble that took us through the woods to the Rock Garden, then on down toward the 4H camp (NO, we didn't go that far).  Traversed a narrow path above a moss-covered rocky creek to a spring, then had to climb back out.  It was a peaceful way to spend the Sabbath, but our legs are weak with exhaustion.

Here is a really interesting website.  Exploring it reminded me of the visit Dona and I made to Castlerigg Stone Circle in Cumbria on our trip to Great Britain in 1997.  Fascinating place.

Mendocino/Albion Coast

Two weeks ago Craig and I spent a long weekend at the coast.  We stayed in a refurbished cabin at Albion Field Station.  Our room was complete with a kitchenette, full bathroom, and a loft.  The weather was splendid: clear and sunny, but frosty in the morning.  The dew lingered throughout the day, especially in the shadows. 

We enjoyed exploring the coves and beaches from Point Arena north to Fort Bragg.  It was nice to get away from our routine and recharge on the beautiful California coast.

The Great Cyber World of Paper Crafts

Been exploring the cyber world of paper crafts (card making, scrapbooking, etc) and photography and there are just so many talented artists out there, and lots of challenges to keep one busy.  I wish I had more time to join the various groups out there, but right now will concentrate on the Divine Design Bible Challenge for now.

Going to work on my Mendocino/Albion pictures now and hope to post soon.

Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge

I am participating in this really neat challenge: each month we create something using a Bible verse.  I made this refrigerator magnet frame using a clear CD case. The image was created digitally using elements and backgrounds from Digital Scrapbook Place.  It took me less than an hour to create.  You can go to Splitcoaststampers.com to see a gallery of what others have created in this challenge.  Enter BVC09 in the search window.

Tosha was an only child for three years than Hunter came to live with us as a kitten.  Tosha was not happy, to say the least, and after almost three years having the run of the house, Tosha only barely tolerates our sweet boy.

Hunter has a sweet disposition, wrapping his front paws around my neck and purring in my ear and drooling.  Sometimes something comes over him, and he will tear around the house like a wild cat.

Tosha's greatest desire is to drink from the faucet, and will follow us into the bathroom plaintively meowing for water.  When she is in a really good mood, she will snuggle into the hair at my neck and knead my shoulder.

In spring 2008, Craig and I took a trip to Yosemite, only the third time I have been there.  The rivers were flowing frothy with the spring melt, and the meadows were alive with butterflies and birds.

The Steller's Jay was very cooperative by posing nicely on the branch above my head.  I used a flash in the evening light and caught the pretty cyan color of his feathers.
